about

This work is dedicated to our friend and inspiration, Colin Biedermann, whose life was halted at the tender age of 19.

“...and then, I have nature and art and poetry, and if that is not enough, what is enough?” -Vincent Van Gogh

"Hey Colin, wait up man! -Meltzer

John Hammel has performed in NYC at the St. Peters and John Houseman Theatres, The Westbeth Theatre Complex and The Producers Showcase. He has appeared in numerous operatic and musical productions throughout NJ, Pennsylvania and New York as well as Pittsburgh and Baltimore, most notably with the Northeast Lyric Opera, Nevada State Opera and Scranton Opera IV. He has sung in recital with his wife Carmen with the New Jersey Pops Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in NYC., the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, The Cape May Arts Center, The Tropicana in Atlantic City, The Watchung Arts Center, Reese Auditorium in Sparta, Cipriani’s, Danny’s Skylight Room, the Plaza Hotel in N.Y.C. and the Community Theatre (Mayo Performing Arts Center) in Morristown. John is the host of the Mozart To Motorhead radio program heard for over sixteen and a half years on NPR affiliate WNTI, 91.9 F.M. The show is currently heard at www.homegrownradionj.com, and www.chestnutradio.com He is a founding member of the creative musical conglomeration Serious Fun.

Steve Meltzer/DJ Tadpole - DJT studied music at Goddard College in Vermont with mentor Dennis Murphy and jazz improvisation in Vermont and the Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, NY with Karl Berger. His past stints include gigs with ECM recording artists the Everyman Band, folk legend Artie Traum, film composer Carter Burwell and pop-rock band Dots Will Echo. Steve is also a member of the fuzak ensemble Monkeyworks and the electronic duo Aether Generator. He wishes he lived in Hawaii. If you haven’t read enough about him more can be obtained at monkeyworks.squarespace.com and coloringpad.org

Richie Arlington has played with Tom Burns, SwivelHead, Spoon Feeding the Masses, Einstein’s Music Fair and countless other marsupials but never with himself. He was born under a basalt formation in another time and place. Due to an aboriginally high I.Q. he dropped out of school after the 8th grade and spent many years re-arranging the Dewey Decimal System at public libraries across America. His interest as a young teen in French Existentialism soon convinced him that it was pointless being involved in the world. He subsequently wore a beret and lived in a well until he met his wife. Richie loves plying the guitar with various parts of dis-assembled doll parts, cutlery, shards of pottery and occasionally his fingers. He is the latest in a long line of male descendants of the Egyptian sun god RA. Rich currently lives in the Federal Government’s Witness Protection Program under the pseudonym Richie Arlington! Shhhh.

Guest Jim Stagnitto is a freelance trumpeter who swims in the jazz / rock / latin commercial music worlds, but is most passionate about writing and playing for dance and film, as well as modern improvisational music. He is a founding member of the New Hope Collective, and long-time member of electro-acoustic provocateurs Monkeyworks. Jim and his wife Lori live in a converted barn in Hew Hope, PA, which they share with a bevy of brilliant personal and rescue (Lambertville Animal Welfare) animals. The beasts are kind and loving to Jim, both feeding and grooming him well.
